Take in Great Views at these Rooftop Bars in Metro Detroit

Story by Max White

Summer is the season for rooftops, and in metro Detroit, there are plenty of places to take in great views and enjoy good food and drinks. From cozy rooftops on the second floor, to ones at the top of hotels in the heart of Downtown Detroit, you'll find a variety of restaurants offering rooftop seating to suit your preferences.

Tin Roof

If you’re looking for good food, great music and incredible views, Tin Roof is the spot for you!

Located right across the street from Comerica Park in the heart of the District Detroit, the bar and restaurant has three levels and a rooftop overlooking Downtown Detroit, and features live music almost every day.

Their slogan is “where everybody is somebody,” and throughout the summer they are also hosting “Nashville hits the roof” concert series.

Make sure to try the street corn quesadilla or the Nashville hot chicken sandwich while you’re there. If you’re looking for brunch, they also have burritos, burgers and chicken & donuts available.

Motor City Brewing Works

If Tin Roof isn't your vibe, head over to Motor City Brewing Works in Midtown’s Cass Corridor for a relaxing and quiet atmosphere in a vibrant part of the city.

The brewery has been operating in Detroit for nearly 30 years, and their Midtown location has a great rooftop patio on top of the one-story building. It features different tables and chairs, and even some comfy furniture for you to kick back and enjoy their delicious beers.

Make sure to get some of their delicious, homemade pizza with some of the best dough you’ll find in Detroit, and don't forget to try their famous Ghettoblaster.

Atwater Beer Co.

For another fantastic rooftop experience, head to Atwater Beer Co. near Rivertown.

Their Biergarten features a second bar on top of the roof, where you can grab a Dirty Blonde, a Vanilla Java Porter or a Whango and soak up the sun. Grab one of their delicious brats while you’re there, or try the Michigan salad which is perfect on a hot summer day.

Godfrey

Looking for a elegant and relaxing rooftop experience? The Godfrey Rooftop Lounge is the perfect place, offering stunning city views, contemporary designs, lush seating, and of course a stylish bar.

Enjoy a panoramic view of Detroit's skyline through their retractable walls and glass ceiling! Whether you prefer a classic cocktail or a unique, seasonal creation, the Godfrey's bar menu promises to delight your taste buds.

Bookies Bar & Grill

A sports-lovers dream, Bookies Bar & Grill features three levels of space and a rooftop patio showing off great views of the city from just outside the main Downtown area.

Whether you’re looking to hang out before a game or grab delicious food, Bookies offers a vast menu and a ton of different drinks on tap.

You can also rent out the patio if you’re looking to host a party or corporate event.

The Monarch Club

Arguably the most famous rooftop bar in Detroit, The Monarch Club offers sweeping, stunning 360 views of Downtown Detroit from the top of The Metropolitan Building.

This classic cocktail bar features an indoor area with stunning views of the city and then four different rooftop patios on each side of the building. They offer a selection of wine, beer, cocktails and spirits, accompanied by small plates and shareable dishes.

Be sure to try the Cadillac House Smoked Whitefish Dip, a perfect cold dish for a hot summer day. And don't miss out on the irresistible rosemary truffle fries—they're always a hit.

Cielo Rooftop

Located at the Cambria Hotel, the Cielo Rooftop Bar is a stylish and elevated destination offering both breathtaking views and signature crafted cocktails.

Indulge in cocktails from master mixologist Chris Vanderginst, while you enjoy the panoramic skyline of Detroit.

Kamper's

Detroit's newest rooftop bar, Kamper's, is a Barcelona inspired cocktail bar that features classic takes on Spanish tapas, pintxos, gins, wines, cocktails, and more.

Rested atop the 14th floor of the iconic Book Tower, Kamper's pays homage to the renowned 20th-century architect, Louis Kamper, the visionary behind the building.

Make sure to check out Detroit's hottest new rooftop, open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 pm to 12 am, and Sunday from noon to 8 pm.

Pinky’s Rooftop

There’s not a restaurant in metro Detroit quite like Pinky’s Rooftop, which is located about 15 minutes north of the city in Downtown Royal Oak.

With it's vibrant pink décor, Pinky’s offers not only great food and insanely fun drinks, but also alcoholic ice pops, making it a must-visit destination for a unique dining and drinking experience.

If you're ever in Royal Oak, don't miss the chance to experience the lively atmosphere and stunning views at Pinky's.
